“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 23:35-26)
I’m sure everyone has heard of the claims of a certain person predicting the rapture to take place May 21st 2011. I was asked by my co-workers and friends about whether I believed it to be true. To set the records straight, yes I do believe and know there will be the rapture as it is biblically documented. But when I first heard my co-worker mention it to me, I couldn’t help but laugh a little about what he told me. Why?
True Christian believers who are biblically sound will know that Christ himself said that no man, and not even the angels can know when the exact date of the rapture will take place (Mark 13:32-33, Matthew 24:36). Only God the Father knows this and the fact that this person and sect claim otherwise shows not only the pride of man, but the ability to twist truth into something people wish to see rather than understanding what the truth really is.
Despite this person’s record of numerous failed prophetic claims, it was surprising to hear that there were actually people who still believed this proclamation to be true (I guess some people don’t learn even when a person cries wolf numerous times). It made me sad to hear that another false teacher was tarnishing the truth of Christ and making it even more of a laughing stock to non-believers. Like putting oil to a fire, the world will stop at nothing to find any means to ridicule God and those who follow Him because it hides the darkness of their sins.
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:19)
For those who claim to be Christians and believed in the false words of this sect. I pray that instead of listening to empty gossiping, that you may be learned enough to dig into the word of God yourself to find the truth through the Holy Spirit’s leading. As Paul had stated to the Ephesians:
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” (Ephesians 4:14)
And for those who do not believe in Christ and have found this turn of events no more than amusing, I pray that you may understand that even if we cannot know the exact day and hour the rapture will take place, it will take place like a thief in the night when you least expect it. God has given you this time and opportunity to be able to accept Christ’s salvation freely. Time is short and truly
“…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2b)
